We’re pleased to be supporting a new study with Natural Resources Canada’s Environmental Studies Research Fund (ESRF), focused on international best practices in offshore decommissioning and abandonment.

Led by Angler Solutions, this project brings together global insight and Canadian context to inform decision-making for upcoming offshore decommissioning activity in Newfoundland and Labrador.

As Canada approaches its first significant phase of offshore decommissioning, the decisions made now will have long-term implications for environmental outcomes, regulatory frameworks, and industry sustainability. The study will draw on proven approaches from mature basins including the North Sea and Australia, translating these lessons into practical, decision-ready guidance for the Canada–NL offshore.

io consulting is proud to be working alongside Angler Solutions and Caron Hawco Group, contributing deep expertise in Asset Late Life Opportunities (ALLO) and decommissioning, alongside strong local capability in stakeholder engagement, policy, and socio-economic considerations. This reflects io’s focus on delivering clarity and decision quality in complex, high-stakes environments.

We look forward to supporting this important work and contributing to safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible offshore decommissioning in Canada.
