io consulting is pleased to announce that our Graduate Engineer Development Programme (iGDP) has been re-accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) as an Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS) for a further four years, with no conditions attached.
Following an on-site assessment at our London office in June, the assessors recognised the continued development of the programme since its initial accreditation in 2024. Particular strengths included the commitment of senior management, the support provided by mentors, the enthusiasm of our graduates and the collaborative environment within the programme. Our quarterly progress reviews and approach to mapping UK-SPEC requirements against IChemE competencies were also recognised as examples of best practice.
The iGDP is a structured four-year programme supporting graduates towards Chartered Chemical Engineer status. From day one, our graduate engineers contribute to live client projects, working alongside experienced engineers and consultants. This provides valuable practical experience across front-end project development, from feasibility and concept selection through to FEED and owner’s engineering.
Each graduate is supported by a dedicated mentor, line manager and buddy, with quarterly reviews and competency tracking helping to shape their development. This structured approach allows us to identify development needs early and align project assignments with individual career aspirations and professional registration requirements.
Our thanks go to IChemE and its assessors, and particularly to our graduates, mentors and everyone involved in delivering and supporting the programme.
Developing the next generation of engineers is an important investment in io’s future and in the technical capability our industry will need to address the energy challenges of today and tomorrow.
