Carbon Neutral Fuels and io consulting win Highly Commended in IChemE’s Global Awards’ Sustainability Category
Manchester, UK — 24.11.2025 — Carbon Neutral Fuels (CNF) and io consulting are proud to announce their recognition in the Sustainability category at this year’s Institute of Chemical Engineering Awards. The joint acknowledgement highlights the strength of the partnership between the ASAP-DAC Consortium comprising Carbon Neutral Fuels, io consulting, and Mission Zero Technologies, and their shared commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable fuels.
The ASAP-DAC project will support a circular carbon economy in Cumbria by capturing and re-utilising CO₂ to significantly reduce the lifecycle emissions of aviation fuels, while enabling investment in regional storage, transport, and handling infrastructure that strengthens local industrial capability. It is closely aligned with the UK’s national Net Zero strategies, directly supporting the UK’s sustainable aviation ambitions and wider industrial transition goals.
This year’s Sustainability award—sponsored by Johnson Matthey—underscores the importance of responsible project development and engineering. Addressing the crowd, the Johnson-Matthey spokesperson highlighted the importance of organisations maintaining a focus on combatting climate change. Both CNF and io consulting extend their thanks to Johnson Matthey for championing organisations like theirs, which are working at the forefront of clean-energy solutions.
The partnership also celebrates the success of fellow consortium member Mission Zero Technologies, who were highly commended in the Business Start-Up Award. Their recognition reflects the technical excellence and forward momentum across the consortium as a whole, demonstrating the value of diverse, high-calibre contributors working toward shared net-zero goals.
“Being recognised jointly for our ASAP-DAC project is a testament to the strength of CNF and io’s collaboration,” said Sophie Zienkiewicz, Co-Founder at CNF. “We’re delighted to celebrate Mission Zero’s commendation as well, it reinforces the collective momentum behind this sector, and our consortium in particular. We’re proud to be recognised for our commitment to reducing aviation’s carbon footprint.”
io’s CEO Richard Dyson adds, “ASAP-DAC represents the kind of purposeful, system-level engineering that aligns perfectly with io’s values. Being recognised alongside CNF and Mission Zero Technologies reinforces the importance of collaborative action in delivering the UK’s sustainable aviation ambitions. We’re honoured to play our part in turning circular-carbon concepts into real, investable infrastructure.”
The ASAP-DAC Consortium continues to advance the efuels project into FEED with an anticipated start up date of 2031.
