The Paris Agreement aims to keep the increase in global temperatures well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius. To do this will require a rapid cut in current rate of CO2 emissions and programmes to actively remove CO2 through negative emission technologies. This requires governmental, corporate and individual actions at a global level.
Here we focus on the rapid adoption and commitment by companies around the world to achieve net zero emissions in their operations.
In this infographic we lay out some of those commitments, discuss what actions may be needed to achieve this and spell out some of the key definitions.
We see this as a positive bow wave of commitments that is coming ahead of large scale government regulation.
We plan to update & post regularly. What’s your net zero pledge?.
